Anthropic Launches Claude Marketplace with 2,000+ Plugins

Anthropic Launches Claude Marketplace with 2,000+ Plugins

Anthropic has officially opened the Claude Marketplace, a central hub that already features more than 2,000 plugins and connectors for its Claude AI assistant. The launch, announced on September 27, 2026, aims to turn the conversational AI into a platform where businesses can discover and activate tools from well-known software providers and independent developers alike.

The marketplace is not limited to Anthropic's own creations. Major technology companies including Atlassian, Google, Microsoft, Notion, and Salesforce have contributed connectors, allowing Claude to interact directly with their services. For example, a team could query their company's Notion workspace or pull data from a Salesforce CRM through a simple conversation with the AI. Beyond simple connectors, the marketplace also lists Claude-powered agents and products developed by partners such as CrowdStrike, Cursor, Harvey, Legora, Lovable, and Snowflake. These are ready-made software products that organizations can purchase and deploy immediately, turning Claude from a standalone chatbot into an integration point for diverse business workflows.

To assist companies with large-scale rollouts, Anthropic has added consulting and systems integration partners to the marketplace. Firms like Accenture, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and Deloitte are now listed, offering their expertise for businesses that want help integrating Claude across their entire organization. This positions the marketplace not just as a storefront for software add-ons but as a comprehensive ecosystem for planning, purchasing, and deploying AI capabilities, complete with professional services.

Anthropic is also actively recruiting developers to build for Claude. Using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI models to external data sources and tools, and Agent Skills, which provide pre-built task execution capabilities, developers can create new connectors and plugins. They can then submit them to the marketplace to reach Claude's existing user base. This approach is a deliberate effort to avoid the fate of a similar attempt by OpenAI, whose apps marketplace saw limited success. By opening the door to any developer, Anthropic hopes to foster a vibrant plugin ecosystem similar to a smartphone app store, but for AI functionalities. The company envisions the marketplace as the primary destination for discovering products that already work with Claude, while giving developers a direct path to customers.

The launch places Anthropic in direct competition with other AI firms racing to build platforms rather than simple chat interfaces. The concept of an AI marketplace mirrors the early days of mobile app stores, where a rich catalog of add-ons cemented the value of the underlying platform. For Claude, the immediate availability of over 2,000 entries, many from enterprise-grade providers, could accelerate adoption by showcasing ready-made business solutions. The inclusion of partners like CrowdStrike, for instance, hints at AI being woven into cybersecurity workflows, while tools from Notion and Salesforce blur the line between AI assistance and day-to-day operations software.

For businesses and website owners, the Claude Marketplace signals a shift toward AI becoming a more deeply integrated part of everyday digital tools. Website operators might use Claude-powered chatbots or content generation tools that connect to their existing systems. However, introducing third-party AI plugins to a website also requires thoughtful consideration of security and performance. A secure hosting environment is the foundation for safely experimenting with such integrations. Managed WordPress hosting platforms like AEU Hosting, which include proactive security measures and automated updates, can provide a stable base for testing and deploying AI-enhanced features on business sites. Without such a foundation, websites risk exposure to vulnerabilities introduced by poorly coded plugins or unexpected conflicts with existing software.

The marketplace is already live on Anthropic's website, and the company is positioning it as the primary destination for discovering products that work with Claude. While it remains to be seen whether the marketplace will achieve the scale of a general app store, the initial catalog of over 2,000 plugins and the backing of major enterprise software vendors give it a strong start. As AI assistants become more central to business operations, the ability to plug them directly into existing software ecosystems could become a deciding factor in which platform companies choose to adopt.
